If you’re wondering why the cover picture says something different, well, it’s cause I wanted to call it ‘The End-of-the-Year Haul’ at first but decided that the Huge Online Haul is better. Though, I am cheating a little as some things are bought in stores but shhh don’t tell.
I am, in no way, sponsored to review any of these products and they’re my genuine opinions on them. All links open in a new tab. I am also no expert on any of this, especially makeup, so bear with me on that.
Hey guys! It’s been a while since I’ve done a haul post (also as a break from all the depressing stuff recently) so I decided to write one up! Though, if I’m going to be completely honest, I’ve actually been putting off writing this for the past month or so but I’m doing it now and that’s what’s important.
Let’s dive straight into it, shall we?
So, if it isn’t already obvious from previous posts, I am a huge YouTube trash. And naturally, since I decided to go on a little online shopping spree, I picked up a couple of Zoella Beauty products from Feelunique, most of them the limited edition Christmas products which, if you want to buy, you should grab them soon as they are limited edition and won’t be sold anymore once the Christmas season is over.
First up, the Just Crackers set. I’m not sure what’s up with the difference in lighting but oh well. In case you can’t read what’s on the back, the items in the crackers are the miniature versions of the ginger cream (body cream), shower glaze, hand cream and lip balm.
I’ve yet to use them (unfortunately I’ve opened them as I wanted to bring them back from Australia and it’s hard to transport them in cracker form) but the packaging is so pretty, both the products themselves and the crackers. I’m very very excited to use them. Though, knowing me, I’ll probably end up using them after Christmas. Also because I asked my mum to hold onto it for me and I can only be reunited with it after Christmas.
They smell quite nice, though when I first opened it I was slightly overwhelmed by the smell. I think it just takes a while to get used to.
Next up, the We Three Beauties cosmetic bags set. Not only is everything incredibly aesthetic and gorgeous, I love that it comes in a set of three, and all of different sizes. It’s very practical, in my opinion, and there are so many things you could use them for.
The large, transparent one can fit more things than I thought it could and the pink glitter one doesn’t feel of sequins, but instead is smooth as there is a plastic covering, which makes it all the better as you don’t have to worry about glitter getting everywhere like with other similar products. The smaller one is about the size of a pencil case and it made of cloth. I also really love the quote on it and I think it’s something that all of us should always remember.
“Throw kindness around like confetti.”
The Spa in a Jar consists of three products: a shower glaze, a ginger cream (body cream) and a white flannel. I’ve got to say, the flannel is the softest thing ever. If I could, I would buy a full blanket size to cuddle up in. It’s really really soft and so nice to use. The jar itself it a beautiful copper colour (including the lid, which I failed to include in the shot) and is made of plastic, so not too hard to break for all us klutz out there. They’re reusable and I still have yet to find a use for them but you can use them for anything: pencil holder, brush holder, or whatever you can think of.
I also bought the Hand on Heart hand sanitizer as you can see in the second shot. It smells quite nice though it’s too watery for my liking for a hand sanitizer. I prefer my hand sanitizers to be thicker and more gel-like, but that’s just a personal preference.
The last thing from the Christmas range is the Best Chums coin purse. Obviously, this is meant for you and your best friend, so I gave the light pink one to mine and kept the darker pink one for myself. Each purse has the words ‘best chums’ written on it. If you flip the purses over, there will be the other side of the copper heart and the other word written on it so don’t worry, it won’t look weird.
I really love the size of the purse. It’s not too big, but not too small at the same time and you can easily fit in any small essentials, like small cosmetics you want to bring out and about or hair scrunchies or your keys. I use mine to keep my lipsticks, mirror, lipbalm, a couple of hair scrunchies and whatever other cosmetic I need for the day out.
The bag doesn’t just open from the top but all the way to the side too (as in an upside down L shape on the top, from the top to the side opposite to the copper heart, if that description made any sense) and I really like that as it’s much easier to find things and I don’t have to force things in.
Next is the Candy Clutch from the Zoella Beauty Sweet Inspirations range. This bag is so big and so amazing. I can easily use this on a night out or a dinner party or I can use it as an oversized makeup bag which, let’s be real, sometimes we all need.
It’s cloth on one side and plastic-y on the other (excuse my lack of fabric vocabulary) and I think that’s a really nice feature as well. Overall, it’s just a really great sized bag and once that I’ll definitely be using at future events.
Tanya Burr Cosmetics
I didn’t get as many of the Tanya Burr cosmetics products, but man I wish I had. I really love the eyeshadow palettes especially. The colours are beautiful and they’re really pigmented and just really nice to use. One thing I will say about them, though, is that they’re a bit bulky and kinda harder to bring around, but they’re still gorgeous and I’ll gladly carry them around wherever I go.
I bought the Enchanted Dreams and Galaxy Eye palettes. The Enchanted Dreams palette, which is one that I’ve been using the most recently, has really nice plum-ish, pink-ish nude colours that I think are amazing for everyday wear.
The Galaxy Eye palette is more for nighttime use as the colours are darker, in a sense. I’ll probably use Snowflake (white), Moonlight (light brown) and Stormy Sky (red-ish) more as I’m more comfortable with those colours but the black is also really nice, especially since it’s glittery instead of matte like in most other palettes.
I also picked up the Soft Luxe Lip Gloss in Rubharb and Custard. It’s a really beautiful matte pink colour and it dries really easily on your lips too. I can’t wait to use this more.
Last but not least, I bought the limited edition Christmas palette, Pretty Unstoppable. I was actually conflicted between this and the Beautifully Defined palette and while I would’ve preferred a bronzer (well, to be fair, I’d have preferred a contour but that’s beside the point) to a highlighter, what sold me is that it came with a miniature sized lip gloss in the colour Martha Moo. I was pleasantly surprised by this as I wanted to buy that colour in the full size but I couldn’t find it in the online store (I think it’s exclusive to Superdrug). I’ll be sure to cherish this small bottle (?) of lip gloss.
On another note, you could literally bring just this along with you and you’d be more of less set. It comes in three really beautiful nude-ish colours as well as a darker brown, making this palette really versatile as you can use this for casual, everyday makeup and for any events you might have. I really do not regret buying this.
I really love Rimmel. Rimmel is probably quickly becoming one of my favourite makeup brands. Unfortunately, it’s not available for purchase in Malaysia. I guess I’ll have to find a way around that.
First up, the Wake Me Up foundation and concealer in Ivory (yes, I’m ridiculously pale) as I wanted to try another foundation beside the one I’ve been using all year and I desperately needed a concealer. I’ve yet to use the foundation but I’m really loving the concealer so far. I think it’s around medium coverage and it does cover up any spots or blemishes quite well.
I bought the Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara in black as I’ve heard great reviews of it and wanted to try it. I’ve only used it once so far but, I’ve got to say, it’s amazing. It really looks natural on your eyelashes but at the same time, defines it a lot and makes your eyes pop and look bigger. Once I’m finished with my current mascara (which, I have a feeling, is about to run out), I’m definitely switching to this.
I also picked up the Scandaleyes Stick in Bad Girl Bronze. It may seem dark but it comes off as a really nice shimmery colour and it’s also a great base, in my opinion anyway. It’s also really pretty to wear on its own.
Another thing I bought is the Brow This Way Gold Shimmer Highlighting Pencil, though I’ve yet to use it and I literally have no idea how it will turn out so I really can’t say anything.
I bought the Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in both Starlit Sky and Earl Grey (though on mine it blackest black whereas everywhere else it says noir so oh well). Confession, I accidentally bought Starlit Sky when I meant to buy Earl Grey so I went ahead and bought Earl Grey as well and not I have two. I’ve been using is though as an eyeliner for casual days and it’s really easy to use and I love it. The only thing I will say though is that is smudges, but that may be because I have monolids (Asian eyes problems).
What is makeup without lipsticks? I have an ever increasing collection of lip crayons and lip glosses so I thought I’d expand my lipstick collection as well. I bought the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 101 and 107, the Kate Moss 15 Year Collection Lipstick in #54 Rock ‘N’ Roll Nude and the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick Summer Collection in #34 Pink Rose. I really love Rimmel’s Kate Moss collections so I decided to extend it before I left Australia. Before I left, I also bought the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Spring Collection in 16 (not pictured), which is the most gorgeous coral shade ever.
I bought the Brow This Way eyebrow kit in dark brown as I decided that it was high time I tried to do something about my eyebrows instead of mindlessly using an eyebrow pencil, probably in the wrong way. I’m still getting used to doing my brows.
It comes in a wax (left) and powder (right). I’m still trying to figure out how to use it but I can say that the powder comes off very dark so you only need to use a bit of it at one time. It also comes with a mini spool and brust, which I find rather handy especially if you need to go travelling.
I also bought the Brow This Way eyebrow gel in clear, which, I suppose, sets everything and makes sure everything stays in place. I’m still trying to see if I like it or not. I meant to buy a tinted one as well but I forgot. Next time it is.
I picked up the Natural Bronzer in 25 Sun Glow as I wanted a matte bronzer. I really, really love the colour and how it looks on my skin. I was a bit iffy at first as I thought I picked up a colour that’s too dark for me (as I’m ridiculously pale, despite living in a tropical country for most of my life) but I don’t regret getting this. It makes me look like I actually went outside for once instead of staying inside all day everyday.
Next up, the Kate Moss Sculpting Palette in 0o2 Coral Glow. Yes, I already have a sculpting palette (the Maybelline New York Master Contour Kit in Light to Medium) and I absolutely adore it but it’s too big and bulky and really hard to bring around so I thought I’d try this smaller one. I’ve yet to use it much but I really love it at the moment.
I bought the Glam Eyes Quad Eyeshadow in Smokey Blue as I have a mission to try all the different drugstore eyeshadows and see which I love the most (it’s tied between the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Enchanted Dreams and Maybelline Nudes palette at the moment) and I haven’t had the chance to use them yet but I do really love the blues in this.
Other Makeup Products
These are some of the other makeup products I decided to pick up.
First up, the two boxes of Eylure fake eyelashes: Volume Starter Kit No. 101 and Naturalite Strip Eyelashes No. 020. I had never used fake eyelashes before this and I was always quite afraid to try it but I finally decided to just take the plunge and give it a go.
I won’t say much about it as I’m still very new to the fake eyelashes scene, but I do like the starter kit as it comes with an applicator as well as a practice lash for in case you screw up, which I did.
Yes, I bought another Real Techniques brush. I bought their setting brush, though I use it for highlighting as the size is just perfect and I can’t find a nice fan brush.
On the subject of brushes, I also picked up EcoTools Eye Enhancing Duo Set, which has a shade and define brush and a blend and smudge brush.
Yes, it’s difficult to keep this is a normal pot, if you do, but it is quite handy, especially when travelling, as you get the function of four brushes in the size of two. I’ve used it and so far, I’m really loving it.
I bought the Revlon Colourstay Eye Liner in Sapphire and the Photoready Kajal Matte Eye Pencil in Matte Coal. I really want to try the sapphire eyeliner but I haven’t had the chance (soon I promise) and I’m still trying to learn to use the eye pencil. To be honest, I bought the pencil as I want to learn to tightline my eyes but they tear up too much when I try so let’s just forget about that for now.
On the subject of Revlon, I bought their Nail Enamel in 620 Bewitching as I wanted a maroon coloured nail polish and I really do love the Revlon nail polishes. If there’s one thing they’ve nailed, it’s their nail polish. I could use a slightly darker colour but it’s still quite a great one.
I got the NYX Proof It! Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer as I desperately needed one and I haven’t used it enough to say anything about it but so far, it seems quite alright.
I bought the Covergirl TruBlend Bronzer as it’s really pretty. I haven’t had the chance to use it as much yet but it has hints of shimmer in it which makes it all the more gorgeous.
I also picked up the Burjois Little Round Pot Blush in 34 Rose D’Or. First things first, can I say that this smells absolutely amazing. It has some sort of berry (or maybe not, but it’s quite sweet) smell and the colour is also super pretty. It’s really pigmented as well so a little goes a long way. It has hints of shimmer as well which makes it look absolutely gorgeous on your skin. I just love this blush and it’s my go to at the moment. It’s also really small and so easy to bring around.
I picked up the Covergirl Eyeshadow Quads in Va-Va Violet as I wanted a purple-y eyeshadow palette. Once again, I’ve yet to use this but it looks very promising.
Last but not least in this section, I got the Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Concealer in Light. I’ve been using this for under my eyes and, I’ve got to say, it really does brighten your under eyes, which is saying something, as I have the worst eye bags ever. I also love the applicator. It’s so soft and such a cute and innovative idea, though I may prefer the more common wand thing (once again, bad vocabulary in all this).
I bought the Uniqfind Marble MacBook Skin in white. Yes, it’s a little costly (for me anyway) but I don’t regret it. I thought it would be just a sticker or something so I was pleasantly surprised when it came and the skin was quite thick so it can protect your MacBook quite a fair bit (unless you drop it, of course, so don’t do that.
It comes in a full piece and you have the option to remove the Apple logo or not which, clearly, I did. It just looks pretter this way. I’m using a 13″ MacBook Air if any of you were wondering.
Last but not least, books. Books, books, books. Of course books. I won’t be doing a full review of them, just some thoughts on those I’ve read. And yes, they’re all YouTuber books…. What does this say about me?
Dan & Phil Go Outside by Dan Howell (danisnotonfire) and Phil Lester (AmazingPhil). Of course I did, being a huge Phan trash and all. I really cannot compare this to TABINOF (the Amazing Book is Not On Fire) as they’re both excellent in their own way. TABINOF is full of amazing Dan and Phil-ness and all their stories and about their journey to where they are today and this is literally just a whole book of, as Dan calls it, ‘poo-posting’. It’s hilarious, and so captivating and, honestly, really inspiring. I felt so inspired and motivated from this as it really shows that even two guys who used to make videos in their bedroom can come so far and change in the world in more ways than they probably know, and it inspires me everyday to work hard (after procrastination of course) and chase my dreams. I’m gonna stop now before this becomes a whole post about me talking about them because, trust me, I could go on all day about these two.
Username: Evie and Username: Regenerated by Joe Sugg (ThatcherJoe). The comics are really well drawn and, being a writer and an avid reader, while I wish there were more character and plot development, it’s a really original idea and such a great read. I don’t read many comics myself (aside from manga) but I’ve no regretts reading these.
Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter by Louise Pentland (Sprinkleofglitter). It’s more of a self help guide than anything but I really do enjoy reading it. It touches on all the important things we face as teens growing up in the modern world, from bullying to moving out for the first time to partying. There’s a great mix of light and happy things as well as important, slightly heavier things that nobody wants to talk about. I think this is an excellent read for anyone and everyone, whether you watch her channel or not.
Love, Tanya by Tanya Burr. I’ve yet to start this one yet but it seems to resemble Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter and it also looks very promising. I’ve browsed through it and read one chapter (on her anxiety and how she overcame it as I was feeling particularly down that day and wanted confirmation and this was the closest book) and I really loved it so I really can’t wait to properly sit down and indulge in this book, probably finishing it all in one sitting.
I also bought the Sprinkle of Glitter Diary 2017 as I thought it’d be a nice one. I won’t need such a huge diary next year as I’m taking a gap year and won’t be flooded with homework, among other things, but I wanted a diary anyway as there are a couple things I’ll be working on and I want to be organised (though I always end up forgetting to check it or simply completely forgetting about it for weeks at a time, but I thought I’d try anyway).
And last but not least, I thought I’d add this one anyone even though I didn’t buy it in the same haul.
Girl Online Going Solo by Zoe Sugg (Zoella), the third book in the Girl Online trilogy. I’ve read the first two books only this year (thank gosh, so I don’t need to wait too long) and I absolutely loved them (I did a short review of them over on my August ’16 Wishes post) and I’ve only just started this one (I’ve been too busy to binge read guys), I love it already. Penny is such a well developed character and she, and all the characters in this book, feels so real, especially with the problems they face, and I can really relate to her. I can’t wait to see where this book takes me to.
And that’s it for this post! Just a reminder that I’ve linked everything so you can check them out if you want.
I also talked about a couple of these things in my October/November Favourites (which I will link to once it’s up) so do check that out.
Leave me a comment to tell me if you’ve tried any of these and whether you liked using them and also what I should try next.
